I start by wandering through Guiyang’s lively neighbourhoods, visiting local favourites like Qingyun Road, stopping by Captain George, and exploring the city’s striking cathedral and historic church. Guiyang’s energy, food scene, and everyday street life completely surprised me — this is not a city most international travellers ever see.

From there, I head beyond the city to explore the natural beauty of Libo Cool Park, known for its dramatic karst landscapes, before visiting Yaoshan Ancient Village, where traditional culture, mountain scenery, and slower-paced life offer a totally different side of Guizhou, China.

This episode is an honest, first-impression look at what travelling in Guiyang is really like, and why Guizhou Province deserves far more attention on any China itinerary.
