I Ended Up in a Chinese Hospital on Day One…
We left early in the morning for what was supposed to be a simple Chinese New Year family trip — flight from Shenzhen, smooth arrival, hotel check-in, and some quiet exploring around Nanjing.
Day one had other plans. After a walk through clean streets and spotting a historic temple bell across from our hotel, I managed to injure my leg and ended up navigating a large local hospital to find the ER clinic.
What stood out wasn’t drama — it was how calm, organized, and helpful everything felt… and the total cost to see a doctor, get examined, and have the wound cleaned and bandaged ($4.50 USD).
Sometimes you learn more about a place in the small, unexpected moments than in the big headlines.
This is our first 24 hours in Nanjing during Chinese New Year — travel, family, culture, and a very unexpected hospital visit.
