Is China Safe for Tourists? Our Honest Answer After Visiting Beijing

Is China safe for foreigners to travel to? How busy does China gets? And how easy is it to navigate if you don’t speak Chinese? Those are the questions we wanted to answer as we visited China for the first time and spend some time exploring its capital city, Beijing.

During our time in Beijing we stayed at the True Go hotel, a very nice and affordable accommodation that even has a robot to deliver your food to your hotel room which I though was pretty cool. The hotel is a little bit outside the city centre but DIDI ( Chinese ride sharing app) is so cheap that it doesn’t matter.

As two wildlife lovers, we had to see a least one panda during our time in China so we decided to visit the Beijing zoo where we saw quite few of them. There are different places in the country where you can see these animals including what they call a Panda Base but if you are in Beijing, the zoo is your best option.

Food is always a big priority for use when traveling and China has come incredible cuisine. Apart from the amazing Chinese street food tow musts are Hot Pot and Peking duck. Trust us when we say that both were fantastic and worth eating.

Beijing as an infinite amount of tourist sights but by far the most popular one if you don’t count the Great Wall of China of course, is the Forbidden City. This place can get really crowded but thankfully, since we decided to travel to China during low season, it was quite enjoyable.

While in China, you will need two very important things if you want to stay connected with friends and family, use your favorite social media platforms, YouTube, Google Translate and more.

1- You need a VPN and make sure to install it on all your devices BEFORE arriving in China, otherwise it will not work. We use SurfShark because the subscription comes with unlimited devices.

2- You need a Chinese eSim to have date while traveling. We use Airalo, the best way to stay connected in over 200 countries including China.

Otherwise, we will be traveling all over China for the next 5 weeks so stay posted for many vlogs from the Great Wall of China to the now famous Avatar Mountains and more.
