From a train that passes through a building to mind-bending roads, impossible skyscrapers, and one of the most futuristic skylines in the world, Chongqing completely exceeded our expectations. Often called China’s Cyberpunk City, this incredible megacity is unlike anywhere we’ve ever travelled.

Over 48 hours, we explored the famous Hongyadong, rode the Liziba train, discovered why people think they’re on the 23rd floor while standing at street level, survived torrential rain, ate our first authentic Chongqing hot pot, and found hidden local spots that most tourists never see.

Is Chongqing really worth visiting, or is it all just social media hype? Here’s our honest experience.
