I WENT TO CHINA (and here’s what I saw) a slow travel diary (VLOG) ep, 23

ciao, bentornati, o benvenuti!

I’m finally back in Rome so first things first, I had to go through all of my content from this recent trip to China. even though it was a chaotic trip in many ways, I’m so happy I went and I’m already planning my next trip to the south of China.

the itinerary included Shanghai, Suzhou, Beijing, jet lag, getting locked out of Alipay with no passport… genuinely felt like the universe was testing me for a week straight. thank god for Jackie.

between the highs (hydrangeas, tasty food, vintage markets, Chagee) and the lows (Great Wall in the rain, missing some of the most iconic spots), this trip has been a lot. but that’s kind of the whole point of travelling without overplanning, it rarely goes the way you think it will.

next up: Japan, which will be a breath of fresh air. I have been longing to go back for so long.

thank you so much for watching, it means everything 🤍

‘Voting us out of existence’: China birth tourism exploiting US birthright citizenship

Journalist Stella Escobedo discusses birth tourism in the US after the Supreme Court struck down President Trump’s executive order limiting birthright citizenship.

“Birth tourism is a big thing, especially in China; it’s a big industry, they send a lot of their people here to give birth,” Ms Escobedo told Sky News host James Morrow.

“Now they have the same rights as my children, who actually live in the United States.

“They are literally voting us out of existence.”
